Spring Carting Weekend Canine Carting Weekend - May 9, 10 & 11, 2008 At Green Grove Kennel and K9 Center N2211 Frontage Road, Oostburg. WI We are planning a Carting Weekend at Green Grove Training Center. It is our hope to have something for everyone – a carting clinic for beginners, several Draft/Carting Tests for the competitive carting fans, and a scenic hike with friends for a weekend wrap up. Plan to join us for any or all of the carting events we are offering. Friday, May 9 6pm – Carting 101 (Introduction to Carting Clinic) This clinic will focus on “getting started with carting!” We will go over hitching and harnessing, safety, equipment & conditioning. This session for anyone who has never carted before and wants to get started! (our Carting Handbook is included in this session) Carts and harnesses will be available to try–some harnesses will be available for purchase Cost of Clinic is $30 ($15, if entered on the weekend) Saturday and Sunday, May 10 and 11, 2008 8am – Each day features a variety of Draft Carting Tests We will offer ABdFC Tests (American Bouvier des Flandres Club) NAWBA Tests (North American Working Bouvier Assoc) AWCA Tests (American Working Collie Assoc)*pending approval Scheduling of tests will depend on number of entries. We will have 3 qualified judges and will set up courses to meet Carting/Drafting Regulations for each of these recognized Clubs. It is our hope to provide Carting fans the opportunity of competing and also realizing the differences between the Carting Tests. Entry fees will be $25 each, for each test entry. Sunday afternoon - Explore Wisconsin! A mile long scenic carting trek Participants will head to one of our lovely State Parks where we will trek along a scenic trail – a chance to enjoy nature in the company of your carting partner. Holiday Pet Portraits - a Huge Success! I wanted to take a moment and thank Hallie VanDriest and all the clients who participated in our Holiday Pet Portraits on November 10. It was a lot of fun and all the poses look so nice. Hallie will be getting the proofs to me and I will contact folks as soon as they are here. Reorders should be ready in time for Christmas gift giving - or Christmas cards. Great Lakes Search and Rescue K9 ended up with almost $200 from this fundraiser, and that money will be used to help pay for a sonar unit that the team uses to help locate victims of drowning. Therapy Dogs bring Joy through the Area Green Grove Therapy Dogs officially began visiting area facilities about 4 years ago. During this past summer the group of dogs and owners have regrouped and updated their calendars. We are always looking for new dogs to come and visit folks in the area. Currently, we visit at Sheboygan Progressive, Beach Health Care, Sunnyridge, Woodland Manor, Heritage Nursing Home, Cedar Grove assisted living, Gables on the Pond and other facilities. The dogs are a big hit with residents and are always greeted with anticipation, while owners hear stories of "when I was young we had a dog named........" It feels so good to know that someone else enjoyed spending some time with you and your dog.
